5 GOVERNMENT'S WBSITES HACKED

Five Government websites, including one of DRDO dealing with recruitment of scientists in the premier defence research organisation, were recently attacked by Algerian hackers and had to be blocked temporarily as a precautionary measure. The websites have been restored by cyber security sleuths, a top official said on Thursday.

“Five sites were hacked on the night of October 29 by Algerian hackers. We have restored the websites. Vulnerabilities have been found and we are strengthening these websites,” Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (ICERT) Director General Gulshan Rai said.

AKASH TO BE SHOWCASED BY INDIA IN U.N.

 India, which assumed this month’s rotating Presidency of the Security Council, will showcase its low-cost Aakash tablet at the United Nations, highlighting the country’s innovation involved in the “most competitively priced” tablet computer.

India’s Permanent Representative to the U.N. Hardeep Singh Puri said a presentation on the tablet will be held on November 28 at the world body’s headquarters here to which UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will be invited.

OVER 1 MILLION NEXUS 7 ARE SOLD PER MONTH

With new tablets hitting the market what seems like every week, Google's Nexus 7 device is still holding strong, selling about 1 million units a month, according to Asus, which produces the device.

Asus CFO David Chang told The Wall Street Journal that the 7-inch tablet has grown from summer shipments of about 500,000 units per month, to 600,000-700,000 before approaching 1 million in October.
