Microsoft is all set to Discontinue Support for Facebook and Google Chat From Outlook

Microsoft's email service Outlook.com recently sent an email to all its users about a more foreseen less shocking decision of Microsoft about discontinuing the support for Facebook and Google chat from Outlook service. In that email, Microsoft cited Google's plan to discontinue the Google Chat protocol as the reason. However, no reason has been given for the removal of Facebook chat, till now.

Microsoft said in the upcoming weeks or I should say days, it will drop the support For Google and Facebook chats to in an attempt to push its own Skype chat and calling service. Microsoft, in its latest update, has also added Skype group chats to its Office Online.

The email also added a request to the users to activate their Skype for Outlook.com by clicking the Messaging icon in the inbox header and add contacts in the People page.

Microsoft’s Google Talk support in it's Outlook.com service was a highly popular feature shortly before the company introduced it in May 2013. However, the latest decision seems like a move similar to the discontinuation of the Windows Live Messenger service back in late 2012.
