Google has become so much an integral part of our lives that the search giant commands almost half the internet traffic. There was hardly any doubt when there was seen more than forty percent drop in internet traffic when Google went down for just five minutes. Though the search giant and all its affiliated services and other websites including Google Mail and Google Docs came back to life, there is an ongoing discussion of Google’s influence on the internet. Its myriad services are used by laymen, students, teachers, business organizations and everyone else. Though it has failed in social networking arena, so what it still controls the internet like no one else.

Google’s popularity across the world doesn't need any telling to anyone. It's availability in almost every major and even minor languages across the world has taken it above every other.
And now to move even more closer to it's users in India it announced beta support for Hindi handwriting and ability to switch to a native Hindi experience for Android. This move has come in an exciting way to users that it will make the internet much more simpler and easier to use for the Hindi speaking and writing people. It allows the users to type in Hindi on a touchscreen, using fingers or a stylus after which it recognises the characters on its own. In an official press release Google said: “We believe you should be able to use the internet in Hindi as easily as you read and write today. No matter what kind of handwriting you have, Google can help you find exactly what you’re looking for. We hope you will have as much fun using it as we had in creating it!"

"In our quest to bring 300 Million more Indian users online, it has often confounded us that less than 10% of internet usage is in Indian languages while in the offline world more than 90% of newspaper readers or TV viewers are using these media in Indian languages," said a Google spokesperson. "Today, we are announcing beta support for Hindi handwriting and ability to switch to a native Hindi experience for your Android. These are baby steps to make the Hindi internet simpler to use."

The integration of Hindi on the search seems to be rather super fast. The same feature can also be used to scribble words in Hindi and then translate them into English through the Google Translate app available for Android smartphones and tablets. Also recalling that a month ago Google did introduced the handwriting input tool which supported Hindi for Translate. And now with the new feature for Android and Chrome, it has eliminated the usage of the virtual keyboard that occupies half of any device’s display. The users can make the most of this feature by locating and enabling the Handwrite under Search Settings. Though smartphone users can also follow the same feature, those with the tab can make alterations through an option within the gear icon. Those with an Android 2.3+ handset, tablet powered by ICS or higher and gadgets running iOS 5 or later can utilize the regular app.

Laptop users can access the same feature by installing an extension in Chrome browser. "Whenever you activate this (extension) your computer's trackpad will turn into a writing pad, so you can write Hindi script using freehand. Then the tool will recognize your handwriting and convert it to text, which can be inserted into text fields on any website," said the spokesperson.
