Finally!! Five Finalists Of 2014 Green Car Of The Year Are Announced..........

The list of Finalists for the 2014 Green Car Of The Year has been announced. The list which was, in it's early time, mainly filled with hybrids and electric cars has now been, from the last few years, including a large variety of cars and this time five cars  have made it to the finale.
The winner will be picked by a panel that includes :
Jay Leno; Jean-Michel Cousteau, president of Ocean Futures Society; Frances Beinecke, president of the Natural Resources Defense Council; Michael Brune, executive director of the Sierra Club; and Matt Petersen, board member of Global Green USA.

The Finalists are as follows:--
  • Audi A6 TDI : This amazing car has already won this award in 2009. But this time it has some improvements with it. The 2014 A6 Tdi  model has a 240-horsepower, 3-liter, 6-cylinder clean diesel engine and an all-wheel drive that is good for zero to 60 miles per hour in just 5.5 seconds. The car also has a start-stop system, which switches the car off at intersections.


  • BMW 328d : This is BMW's first four-cylinder diesel engine containing car in the U.S.. It's a 180-horsepower, 2-liter available with rear- or all-wheel drive.

  • Honda Accord : This a midsize sedan which comes with four-cylinder, V-6, hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. The V-6 engine gives it an EPA of 36 mpg on the highway. On the other hand, the plug-in version has a EPA of 115 mpg on highway.

  • Mazda3 : This is the 2014 model of the old Mazda3, which is fully made with the famous SKYACTIV engine transmission, chassis and weight-saving technologies, with its new 2.0-liter, 155 hp., four-cylinder engine — achieves a 41-mpg highway rating.

  • Toyota Corolla : This the redesigned 2014 model of the sedan which has increased efficiency and includes a new Eco model. It has got an EPA of 42 mpg on the highway with its conventional 140-horsepower 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine.


The Green Car of The Year has become an important prize in the automotive. This award is sponsored by the Green Car Journal and the award is given at the Los Angeles Auto show in November, annually. The award was started in the year 1992.
