Isohunt.com- The Biggest BitTorrent Search Engine is No Longer Reachable........

Isohint, the world's most famous BitTorrent search engine was forced to shut down after a long hard fought court case battle against the Motion Pictures Association of America ( MPAA ).
This torrent tragedy was the result of a seven year long court case
which, at the initial, was put forth by MPAA, which alleged that isoHunt facilitated movie-copyright infringement.

According to the settlement, the owner of the site, Gary Fung, will have to pay $110 million to the Hollywood group, which included Disney, Paramount, and Twentieth Century Fox. But as it is a lot of money and Gary has no resources, the amount was decreased to $2 to $4 million.

The chairman of MPAA and the Former U.S. Senator, Chris Dodd, was very exuberant after the win. In his triumphic after comment he said,"Today’s settlement is a major step forward in realizing the enormous potential of the Internet as a platform for legitimate commerce and innovation. It also sends a strong message that those who build businesses around encouraging, enabling, and helping others to commit copyright infringement are themselves infringers, and will be held accountable for their illegal actions.”

Earlier this year another bittorrent search engine The Pirate Bay was also blocked by the UK ISPs. Like The Pirate Bay, isohunt didn't host files for download, but listed links of sites that did. But this argument was not really able to make Gary's case stronger.

The End of this search engine can be marked as the "End of an Era" in which almost all the files were available freely.............
